OPEN Forum on Invisible Practices: Intervention with fathers who use violence

You are invited to join the upcoming OPEN Forum this July.

OPEN brings together practice experience with research and evaluation expertise to strengthen our evidence base and improve outcomes for Victorian children and families. OPEN forums are a chance to learn, share and shape the network.

This forum will showcase the experiences of practitioners who participated in a research project to find out what support they need when working with fathers who use violence.

Professor Cathy Humphreys and Lucy Healy (University of Melbourne) will facilitate a panel of Victorian child and family service practitioners to share the findings and experiences from Invisible Practices: Intervention with fathers who use violence, an action research project that included training and supervision for Communities of Practice by the US Safe and Together Institute (David Mandel).

Invisible Practices: Intervention with fathers who use violence was funded by ANROWS and partner organisations. The project was led by Professor Cathy Humphreys with a team of researchers and partner organisations in Victoria, NSW, Qld and WA. Invisible Practices explored the work of practitioners and their organisations that engage and investigate fathers who use violence. Child protection practitioners and family services workers provided input into the development of practice guidelines in this challenging area of work.
