MAEVe seminar series: Semester Two
This semester, MAEVe will hold a Tuesday fortnightly* seminar series featuring presenters on diverse topics relevant to the question of ending violence against women and their children.
These seminars are held between 1pm-2pm at the Melbourne Law School, 185 Pelham Street, Carlton. No bookings required.
For the first session, we will joined by Dr Jessica Cadwallader with a talk entitled "Violence and Disability: Contemplating the Intersections".
Dr Cadwallader is an independent scholar with an ongoing interest in feminist theory, trauma and injustice, and non-normative bodies and embodiment with a particular focus on disability. She currently works in systemic advocacy and research, focusing on violence against people with disability. Recent publications include the sole-authored “Forgetting Rape: Trauma, Pharmaceuticals and Embodied (In)Justice” in Australian Feminist Studies, “Figuring Wounded Detachment: Rape, Embodiment and Therapeutic Forgetting” in Somatechnics, and “(Un)Expected Suffering: The Corporeal Specificity of Vulnerability” in International Journal of Feminist Approaches to Bioethics.
